I hope that you are well, and are getting used to a change in the temperature. I do not like the rain very much, but my garden appears to be enjoying it.
I am sure that you will realise that the early start this month is because following the meeting we will be holding our AGM. I have attached the relevant papers for the meeting to this newsletter. I hope you will all take the opportunity to remain for the AGM. The Committee will welcome any ideas you may have, because as you will know this is a difficult time for us.
Our lecturer this month will be Barry Venning. Barry is an art historian whose interests and teaching range from the art of late medieval Europe to global contemporary art. He also has an ongoing research interest in postcolonial art and British visual satire. This evening he will be talking about Cartoons and Contraptions, The Wonderful World of W. Heath Robinson.
This month we shall also be selling tickets for our Christmas lunch which is on Wednesday 9th December. Your lunch this year will be, as always, catered for by Elizabeth. It will be followed by a lecture from Susie Harries on ‘The Art of the Joke – Artists using Jokes’. The cost of the meal and the lecture will be £36.
I hope we get a good gathering for this celebration, probably the first, for you, of the many before Christmas.
I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday evening
Linda
REMEMBER - THE MEETING ON TUESDAY WILL START AT 7.15
